When it comes to pain relief, a proper diagnosis is key in order to work toward a solution.

EMG – or electromyography – testing at Regenerative Medicine Institute of Michigan is an advanced diagnostic tool that can do just that.

Read on for more on this.

EMG testing details

EMG testing allows our board-certified medical team to effectively diagnose various neuromuscular conditions in patients in order to accurately develop a treatment plan.

EMG testing works by looking at the electrical signals that muscles and nerves produce and control. It can measure such things as how muscles respond to nerve stimulation, how fast the electrical signals make their way through peripheral nerves and identifying areas where muscles and nerves are not functioning at their highest level.

EMG testing at our clinic can test for conditions that can cause patients to experience pain and weakness, including:

  • Carpal tunnel
  • Peripheral neuropathy
  • Ulnar nerve entrapment
  • Pinched nerves
  • Muscle weakness
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Chronic pain
  • Spinal stenosis
  • …and more

All of this is done in office in serene and comfortable surroundings. EMG testing usually takes about a half hour up to an hour and a half.

Our board-certified physicians are highly trained in EMG testing.

The procedure involves inserting fine needle electrodes into muscles and recording the electrical activity to analyze dysfunction.

Once results are determined, a customized treatment plan is developed and may include healing modalities like platelet-rich plasma therapy, stem cell therapy, prolotherapy or targeted injections.
